World For All

Share
A couple of weeks back, a friend of mine posted this picture on Facebook and the first thing that struck me was - "that's me". I had a good laugh and instantly shared it on my wall with my friends.

But that wasn't the end of it. Over the next few weeks, the picture kept haunting me and I began questioning my indifferent behavior and attitude. I tried to watering down the thoughts in my head with self-debates and statements - 'no matter how bad the world gets, there is still a lot of good out there.'

But nothing I did helped me change that feeling and I settled with the fact maybe I was indifferent.

But somewhere, deep in my mind, it was still lingering around and keeping me restless, until last week when a few incidents cleared my doubts in me. It was all there in front of me, but I was too naive to realize it.

It was indiscriminate, indispensable and selfless love, that makes me more attached towards animals than my own kind. It is one of kind love that will never change and will outlast time itself. It will never change with mood swings or the way you treat them (scoldings etc.). Just one look in those gleaming gracious eyes is enough to tell you that, you mean the world to them. (And I am not referring to only dogs here)

Yet, we humans continue to abuse and mistreat them. In spite of being the most "intelligent and civilized" of all livings beings, we lack basic ethics of life and have taken everything given to us for granted - be it environment or caring of other life forms. And if this continues in the same way, I'm sure we'll write our names into the history books as the most cruel and savage creatures to ever roam the planet, even leaving the dinosaurs far behind.

This post has been published to raise awareness about animal cruelty and is part of IndiBlogger’s programme for IndiChange – iDiya. All proceeds (if I win) will be donated to a Mumbai-based NGO, "World For All" that helps strays animals lead a better life through voluntary adoptions.

  1. I am not an animal lover but I do appreciate and believe in the sentiment! Best wishes for the contest.
